The over-used quote of "you have to beat everyone to win it all" is incorrect. You only have to beat 4 teams. A lot of teams who have won have done so by not playing the team that matches up well with them. If the Rangers played Washington in the first round, good chance they are sitting comfortably at home waiting for who they play round 2. I'd bet the Flyers are very much cheering on Ottawa tomorrow regardless of what they say to a mic.

IMO, the best-case scenario for the Flyers would be to face Florida in the 2nd round...they won't have home-ice so they start out on the road, but they should be able to handle the Panthers just fine in a 7-game series (judging from the head-to-head games this season plus what I've seen during the Panthers-Devils series). For that to happen, either NY or Boston must lose their Game 7...I'd personally prefer it to be NY. Either way, hopefully the Flyers will be rested up & ready to go against whichever 2nd round opponent they face, who will be coming off a hard-fought game 7 win & an emotional series with no time to catch their breath between rounds.

How sweet would a scenario be to go through Pitt, NJ, NYR and then on to stomp on LA for the finals.

IMO that no player would come out during an interview and say they would prefer one opponent over another. I can assure you they are all hoping for certain opponents in the next round.

It's quite unlikely you'll pull Florida though. I'm thinking you have a first rd appointment with Capitals or Devils.

the Rangers aren't winning tomorrow night. They got off verrrrrry lucky on Monday with some opportune calls and non-calls. And Rangers fan, dont give me the bs about the sens 2nd goal. Yes- it was kicked in, but it had zero impact on the game.

To be honest with you, I wasn't impressed with either Florida or NJ...I thought they both were pretty mediocre during the games that I've seen (of their series). I'm not scared by either team as I think Philly would handle either one. Brodeur is just not the goalie he used to be and the NJ defense isn't very good, either. I just prefer Florida because they're a weaker overall team, IMO, they're banged up at the moment, and playing them would allow Philly to start out the series on the road (where they have less pressure on them & only have to get a split in the first 2 games combined with the fact that Philly has been a great road team all year). But I'd be okay with NJ, too.

NY and Boston both scare me a little, though...NY has a great defense and Hank, although he's been looking quite "mortal" this series, has the ability to get hot and can frustrate the Flyers as he seems to get up for the Philly games. Boston is definitely not as strong as they were last year (or even earlier this season) but they also have the ability to turn it on and usually play Philly pretty tough, plus Thomas can get hot and can be almost impossible to beat when he gets on a streak like that. I'd prefer to let someone else try to beat those 2 teams and take either Florida or NJ in the 2nd round. But maybe that's just me.

Rangers are lucky??? Sens are lucky they got this far. Rangers have 10 times the team the Sens do. Stop crying. Sens have barely one good line and crap for D. The Rangers underperformed and that's the only reason this is going to 7.

Do you believe that? Because outside of Lundqvist, your team really isn't that good. If the Rangers had an average, or even above average goaltender, they would be struggling to make the playoffs...

and your knocks on the Senators are hilarious, considering one of our "crap for D" had more points than anybody on your team. I'm not pretending or implying that the Sens are 'elite' or even one of the better teams in the east on paper, I'm simply saying you can't underestimate heart and hard work- which is something that the Rangers have not had in this series- and that's been the difference.

Good luck tomorrow night, with the grieving process, I mean...

First of all, as a Rangers fan, I respect the Sens. They have a great young core. Karlsson is a beast and can absolutely fly for a D-man. But just because the Rangers spread their scoring across all of their lines, doesn't mean that their team outside of Lundqvist isn't good. They were 11th overall in scoring this year which isn't bad, especially when you have Lundqvist between the pipes. I think the Rangers are going to win tomorrow night in another close one. Craig Anderson used up all of his magic in that 41 save shutout performance and Lundqvist is going to leave it all on the ice tomorrow. Having home ice helps too. The Senators have a very bright future and in a couple years, they'll be near the top of the conference standings. But, their run this season ends tomorrow. Let's Go Blueshirts!

Rangers don't have heart and hard work? Teams wo heart lose game 6 on the road and teams with a killer instinct win game 6 at home. Don't give me lucky Ottawa had 7 power plays get over yourself

yeah, lundqvist > > > > > anderson. Not really any question there. We're also an 8 seed thats taken a 1 seed to 7 games. But yes, no more of this in the philly forum. Thats it for me.

the nhl let your team play soccer, don't give that non sense. Chris neil should have faked more injuries. Tell him to throw another temper tantrum.

As a flyers fan you at least want one of Boston/NYR to lose, maybe even rather that 1 wins and 1 loses, that way it ensures a series against the NJ/FLA winner. If I could choose who they would play, this would be my wishlist in order.
Fla
NJ
OTT
WAS
NYR
BOS

With that said, I also have the mindset of "be careful what you wish for" and "Any team any time any place"
